Background of the Friends of The Moonridge Zoo
The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo (FOMZ) was established in 1989 as a
nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. You can view a copy of our original IRS Treasury
Department Letter of Determination.
Our mission is "to support the Moonridge
Animal Park by inspiring understanding, respect and responsible action for wildlife and wildlife habitat through:
public education, volunteer support, fundraising and development, and key project financial support." The organizational relationships between San Bernardino County, The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Parks District, the Moonridge Animal Park and the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo can be viewed here.
You can read the background history of
FOMZ, starting with how the massacre of three park bald eagles triggered the
formation of FOMZ.
Also, our By-Laws, Rules and Regulations, and recent Board Meeting Minutes are available for
viewing.
